When recording, the recording continues when the pen is lifted a little bit, i.e., lifted less then the maximum pen-lift height, which is about 1 cm.

To be able to low-pass filter and estimate derivatives it is important that there are no discontinuities in the recording. Therefore, by default, the air strokes are not only stored but also shown in most MovAlyzeR charts.

If the pen is lifted too high for the tablet to record MovAlyzeR will store the sample nr and the time the pen was out of proximity in the DIS file:
Rightclick trial >View >Discontinuities.
Trials with discontinuities will show a red D in their icon.

When processing a trial with discontinuities, by default, the part after the first discontinuity will be disregarded. To bridge the discontinuity one of several approximations can be made. The best approximation is inserting a constant-velocity line of the correct duration (or, if no DIS file is available, a running-average line).
Rightclick your experiment >Properties >Processing >Time functions >Advanced.
(See screen shot of Experiment Properties below)

The raw data chart is shown with pen lifts including the trailing pen lift in light gray.

To suppress displaying the all strokes:
Rightclick your experiment >Properites >Running Experiment >Drawing Options

Then, change Minimum Pen-Pressure Color from its default light gray ( RGB=224,224,224) into white (RGB=255,255,255).

In the processed data chart the trailing penlift is removed. This is settable in:
Rightclick your experiment >Properites >Processing >Time functions

Size: 21.9 KB

To suppress the penlifts during the writing pattern there are 2 options:

PROCESSED DATA OPTION1: Do the same as for suppressing pen lifts in the raw data as shown above.
In addition, ensure that:
Feedback = NONE:

Size: 6.7 KB

For maximal contrast you can also set:
Action >Monochrome

Size: 6.2 KB

PROCESSED DATA OPTION2: In the processed data you also could change the Color Feedback by selecting:
Feedback = Axial Pen Pressure
Action >Color Feedback >Min. Color
Color Feedback (=line color) for minimum of the selected feedback function is by default light red (RGB=255,128,128).

Size: 10.3 KB

Change this feedback color into white (RGB=255,255,255)
Name: tf_MinIsWhite_many.png
Views: 192
Size: 9.4 KB

BTW: The default color for the maximum is dark blue (default RGB=0, 0, 255).

Feedback color setting will switch back to these defaults when starting MovAlyzeR.

We may need an option to completely suppress pen lifts (not merely draw invisible lines) for the charts. With sufficient interest we will include this in a next release MovAlyzeR.

Action >Line thickness >Maximum
(Default Line Thickness = Thin Solid)
The line thickness seems always less when reproducing images, so I exaggerate the line thickness wen creating the pictures.

Rightclick in the chart >Export >Export to Clipboard
Then paste into a graphics program (MS Paint or IrfanView).
Then save as PNG (=lossless image file format)
Then upload the images into this posting.

To customizae the colors of the MovAlyzeR dialogues:
