Condition Sound Settings

Sound

o Sounds may be used to alert the subject or the user to the various sequence of events that will take place when an experiment is run.

o Pull down menu: The events for which sounds can be added are 'Start of Recording', 'End of recording', 'Start of stimulus' (Precue), 'End of stimulus', 'Reached Correct target', 'Reached incorrect target', 'pen is lifted from tablet', and 'pen is placed on tablet'.

NOTE: The sound settings are unique for each of the above events. Use the pull down menu to set the properties for the different events.

o Use sound: Sounds can be enabled for each event by checking this option. If this option is OFF, no sounds are used.

o A tone OR a wave file can be set for each event.

o Use tone: A tone of a certain Frequency (Hz) and Duration (ms) can be used per event.

o Use a wave file: This option is used to provide custom-made instructions to the subject.

~Example: If you want to have a sound signifying 'Start recording when the targets appear' for a certain experiment, you can attach a .wav file of the sound to the experiment for 'start recording' event.

o NOTE: A .wav file can be created by going to your computer's Start Menu > Programs > Accessories > Entertainment > sound recorder. You can record your own voice or other sound and save it in the bin directory of the MovAlyZeR (C:/Program files/Neuroscript/MovAlyZeR/bin) to be used later.

o NOTE: Tones are played through the internal speakers of your computer, whereas .wav files are played through the external speakers.

o Fire Trigger Pulse to Communication Port: A short trigger pulse can be be sent to the serial port for any of the events selected in the pull-down menu. It may be set for each of the events in the dropdown list.

Some examples of events are the beginning or ending of a trial, the beginning or ending of a stimulus, and correct or incorrect targets. For the functional description, see this section in help.
